Happy 7th Anniversary

So even though our anniversary is April 26th we celebrated it now b/c I just haven’t been up for doing anything until now. We were coming up to Mom & Dad’s for the 4th of July so we decided to run away to the Omni Hotel (where we spent our wedding night 7 years ago). Mom & Dad were so sweet and watched Andrew & Trace for us. THANKS AGAIN!!!

We left at 3pm on Saturday and drove to the Omni to check in for the night. When we got there they didn’t have our reservation and since we told them we were celebrating our anniversary they upgraded us to a Suite for free. YEAH!!! I was asking Jon what the difference was and that we didn’t need a suite…but when we walked into our suite I understood the difference. Our suite had a huge sitting area with a couch, chairs and a huge flat screen TV. Then the bathroom was big too and had a HUGE shower head which made taking showers so nice. Then we walked into the bedroom and there was another flat screen TV and when we pulled back the curtains to look out it was just gorgeous b/c we were on the highest floor and could see EVERYTHING!

So we just “relaxed” for a little while, took a shower and then while we were just watching TV we heard a knock at the door and had no clue what it could be…well the sweet staff at the Omni sent up chocolate covered strawberries and champagne b/c we were celebrating our anniversary.   

I felt like we really were living in the life of luxury…me wearing a robe, holding a bottle of champagne and a champagne glass. And even though we don’t drink I thought that was so SWEET of them to do that for us.

It was funny though b/c the card talked about it being our 1st anniversary but oh well either way we really enjoyed our luxurious and yummy gifts. The Omni also included a coupon for a free breakfast in the morning.

So we relaxed, watched some TV and enjoyed our strawberries.

For dinner we decided to go to El Chico, a very cheap but good Mexican place we use to go to ALL the time when we were newly weds.

By the way while we were at El Chico I called to check on Andrew and mom told me that he was doing fine and hadn’t even once asked for us, but right when we were about to leave he was playing in the hot tub and accidently stepped on the side into the middle where it is deeper and started flailing all over the place but before anyone could get there to help him he had gotten himself to the side and saved himself. YEAH ANDREW! Those swimming lessons are priceless.

I LOVE their brownie skillet sunday and could just drink the rum butter they pour over it. In fact I was cleaning the skillet so nicely that our waiter asked if we wanted some rum butter to go…of course I said YES!!! We had told him we were celebrating our anniversary and so when he brought the rum butter out he said it could be a “His & Hers”. We just laughed and laughed about that.

We got back to the hotel and just “relaxed” again. We really had an enjoyable evening. Also since it was the 3rd we watched fireworks out our HUGE window as we “relaxed”. It was just an amazing evening all around.

The next morning after we slept in for quite a while we went and used our coupon for free breakfast. I was sad that our fun anniversary overnight date was over and we will for sure have to do that again.
