Today started out like any other day with breakfast and cartoons but then Papa called and said he wanted to take us to Cheddar’s for lunch so we quickly got cleaned up. We went to Cheddar’s with Papa and Andrew loved the fish tank they have there.
Papa was so sweet and took Andrew over to see it while we were waiting for our food to arrive.
Papa got catfish, I got salmon (it was really yummy) and Andrew got FRIES with chicken tenders but of course LOVED the fries. He was way cute and even shared his fries with Papa.
THANK AGAIN PAPA FOR A FUN LUNCH OUTING!!!
We came home and decided to have quiet time before we headed to lessons. Andrew of course fell asleep and I did laundry while I watched TV.
At swim lessons today they went into the deep end of the pool and Andrew even jumped off the diving board…well actually he got up on the diving board and was scared so Mrs.Cis (his teacher) threw him off. YEAH ANDREW!!!
Andrew was again an astronaut today during the “water circus” where they swim through the hula hoop. Funny boy! He really is doing better with swimming and seems to LOVE his lessons.
While we were at swimming lessons the wind started to blow really hard, so hard that flowers off the trees were coming down like it was snowing. Then came the rain and boy did it come down HARD!!! Mrs. Cis said Andrew was the only one in the class that cared that is was raining and kept on telling her, “We have to go b/c it is raining.” My new Mormon friend, Jamie, was very kind and let us borrow a umbrella so we hopefully wouldn’t get drenched on the way out to our car…no such luck b/c WE GOT DRENCHED! My under clothes and bra were even drenched. I usually HATE getting wet but I knew it was inevitable so I decided that instead of complaining about it I would just thank Heavenly Father for the moisture and act like a kid again and just laugh and jump in the puddles with Andrew. We really did have a fun time and it was interesting how when I started laughing about being so wet Andrew also started to laugh about it and wasn’t crying anymore. I really need to remember how my example does affect him more than I know. That is also why I need to get back to church so he can grow up in a very strong gospel home like I was so blessed to be able to.
When we got back to Mimi & Papa’s I called Dad and asked him to put up the garage door so we could just run in there but he was even nicer and came out with an umbrella and got Andrew. Then he came back for me but I had already started getting out b/c I couldn’t get any wetter than I already was so why wait for the umbrella. Andrew and I stripped down right there in the laundry room. Boy, it was nice to get on nice clean DRY clothes.
Then I started dinner and dad came over to help me while Andrew watched Superman. Dad had gone and gotten all 4 Superman movies for Andrew b/c Andrew loved the Superman Returns movie so much. My Dad is always doing sweet things like that. He really is very thoughtful and LOVES to spoil his grandkids.
Well, I was all nervous when my dad came over to help me with dinner not b/c it was a hard dinner to make (pigs in a blanket and mac & cheese) but just b/c the joke in my family is that I CAN’T cook so I was so nervous that somehow I was going to mess up this simple dinner and NOW my Dad would be right there if I did. Come to find out though Lisa was the one that made the mistake and set the timer for 10 HOURS instead of 10 minutes. When I saw that I just had to get a picture for proof. Lisa was a great sport and we all just laughed about it.
After dinner Lisa & Autumn left to go to Autumn’s lessons and Andrew asked Papa if he would ride bikes with him so Papa went out and helped Andrew ride bikes. Papa has just recently gotten into long distant bike riding so he was excited to show off his new bike but realized the riding bikes with Andrew meant not being able to ride this own bike. I think it is funny though that Papa left on his helmet though…I don’t know walking around with a stick can be pretty dangerous. =) I also thought it was cute how Papa used a stick to push Andrew but made Andrew think he was being able to ride the bike all by himself. Sneaky Papa! That reminds me of when I was a kid and Dad was teaching me to ride my bike and he would tie a dish rag around my waist and then be behind me keeping me from falling but giving me some independence or at least I thought.
I also like how Andrew is riding a “girly” bike but doesn’t care about that either…he just was having the time of his life!
When Autumn and Lisa got home from Autumn’s swimming lessons we opened Nate’s letter and read it out loud. He is doing good but at the end said he really wanted letters even more than on his mission. So we all sat down and decided to write Nate a letter. Autumn and Andrew drew pictures for him but the rest of us hand wrote our…actually Dad typed his up. It actually was really fun to write to Nate together and the kids absolutely LOVED drawing pictures for him.
Hopefully NATE loves receiving his letters as much as we loved making them.
So even though today was stormy it turned out to still be a great day!
