FUN Friday (July 9, 2010)

This morning we just hung out, watched cartoons and Dad cleaned the guest bedroom for all the company (Nelsons, Aunt Tafta & Uncle Kerry) that are coming this Sunday or Monday.

After Papa got the guest bedroom cleaned up he went outside and while he was out there Andrew asked if they could listen to some music and dance around but when Dad went to turn the music on nothing happened so he told Andrew the CD player had died. So while we brought it over to the recycle can I hummed the funeral song. I had gotten that CD player for Christmas a long time ago and have so many great memories of dancing around to my favorite music and singing at the top of my lungs in my room.

Then Papa had some errands he needed to run so we decided to get out of the house and join him. After we were done with the errands Dad asked Andrew where he wanted to go for lunch and of course Andrew said McDonald’s. Papa of course had to tease him and keep on saying we were going to lunch everywhere else but McDonald’s. Andrew actually didn’t scream or get really upset he just continued to tell Papa that he wanted to go to McDonald’s.

003

Of course we ended up going to McDonald’s for lunch. Papa really LOVES to spoil us and we LOVE to be spoiled.

004

After lunch we came home and Andrew took a nap while I worked on blogging. Then it was time to go to Andrew’s swimming lesson and I was so excited for today b/c we got to stay and watch the kids today. Papa decided to come too which was so sweet of him and really touched me.

They started off the lesson with just taking the kids out in the water and getting them comfortable with being in the water again.

006

Then the kids throw toys out into the pool and they have to swim and go get them. The first time Andrew threw the toy it didn’t go that far so Mr. Steve (one of the teachers) said to throw it farther and so Andrew threw it really far and almost to the deep end. Funny boy!

009

Then Andrew jumped into the pool off the side. He really is doing so much better at not freaking out and just jumping into the pool. YEAH ANDREW!!!

016

I never knew how much Andrew talked during his lesson. He was talking the whole time and just jabbering away. I have NO CLUE where he gets that from…LOL!!!

020

Today Andrew was so brave and even jumped like plane (standing all the way up and with his arms out). YEAH!!!

017

Andrew does really good at keeping his face in the water but Mrs. Cis (his main teacher) is always having to remind him to kick fast and use his arms to reach and pull. She also kept on telling him to use “spoons” (fingers together) and NOT forks to scoop the water. She really is WAY cute with Andrew.

018

I always knew my little boy was a good boy but I guess I didn’t know how good he really was b/c here he is walking on the water. =)

025

I think it is funny how Andrew has only one foot that kicks out of the water. The other foot is kicking but just under the water. FUNNY BOY!!!

030

Andrew loves when it is time to monkey walk around the side of the pool. It really is cute to see them going around and hear them making the monkey sounds. When we practice he ALWAYS wants to practice this.

033

Today he also jumped off the diving board. Mrs. Cis did have to encourage him to go but he did go off without screaming this time. YEAH ANDREW!!!

037

Toward the end of the lesson they drive their cars and practice kicking their feet while laying on their back. Andrew seems to really like this too.

Andrew’s FAVORITE part though is the water circus where they choose something they want to be and then swim through the hula hoop. He always chooses to be an astronaut but I have no clue why he chooses that over Spiderman or something like that. Oh well, he really does have fun and I love how he can choose to be something different than the other kids.

044

At the very end of the class I love how Mrs. Cis has them swim out to her and give her a hug and then swim back to the step. Mrs. Cis really is an AWESOME teacher and Andrew has really progressed so fast with his love for swimming and confidence swimming. I am curious if when we get back to his other swim lessons in August if he will be moved up a class b/c he is progressing so great. YEAH ANDREW!!!

On the way home Dad decided he wanted fried zucchini for dinner so when we got home we made fried zucchini together. While we were making dinner together I mustered up enough courage to start a serious conversation with my dad about me feeling uptight and scared around him. It felt so great to start talking to Dad about what I have been feeling for a long time but just never had the courage to tell him. My counselor has been challenging me to have a talk with my Dad but I just never could but for some reason tonight I started our talk. Unfortunately he had to run off and go watch Autumn’s at her swimming lessons. He was even so cute and took Lisa and Autumn some delicious fried zucchini!!!

He did leave Andrew and I some to eat too but Andrew didn’t want any and just ate his left over fries from McDonald’s. SILLY BOY!!! I didn’t mind Andrew not wanting any though b/c that just meant I got to eat more. YEAH!!!

After Dad, Autumn & Lisa got back Dad got ready to go to Aunt Sandy’s & Uncle Robert’s for the Peach Pedal Saturday. Dad has really gotten into biking and is doing great at it. Then Lisa was invited to a play at the last minute so I was left babysitting Autumn which would have been fine any other time but with the emotions that were brought to the surface by talking to dad just made it way too hard. I am so glad I was able to call Jon and Mom to help me deal with the emotions that had come out. I then decided to do something about my anxiety about needing to talk to dad some more and having no clue when we would finish our talk so I texted Dad and told him we were going on a daddy/daughter date Saturday night after he got home from Aunt Sandy’s and Uncle Robert’s. He texted me back and said, “Sounds good, love ya dad, good night!” I slept so much better knowing when we would finish our talk.

Funny note, I was out taking Trace potty when Lisa came home. While we were talking we heard what sounded like a baby sheep. Lisa went and got flashlights (mine didn’t work) and we also brought a broom so we didn’t run into any spider webs and we tried to find the “sheep”. We couldn’t see anything and then all of the sudden we heard the noise again and it was on the opposite side of where we had heard it the first time. Finally we decided to just forget about it and I also had the thought that is might be two FROGS talking to each other. Lisa said I was making it up but later we asked Dad about it and he said yes it probably was frogs we heard. FUNNY!!!
