Our 2013 Goals (Jan. 14, 2013)

I have always hated the idea of goal setting but this year our Relief Society had Tera come talk about goal setting & even though I thought I would hate every minute I attended anyways & it was AWESOME!!! I came out of that meeting feeling empowered & wanting to set some goals for myself & help Andrew set some goals too! THANK YOU Tera!

So I came home & talked to Jon about my desire to set goals this year & he helped me set some simple yet effective goals for myself & also helped me pick word(s) to focus on for the year!

My words this year are: JUST BE!!! So many times I get caught up in worrying, that I forget to JUST BE happy or JUST BE in the moment & enjoy this moment & don’t worry about the future or the past! So…that is what I am going to be working on…JUST BEING!!!

Now I have to preface my goals by saying they might seem really simple to others but to me it is a start to becoming the person I eventually want to be.

My 2013 Goals:

1) Clear the table each night-my husband does A LOT around here so I asked what is one thing I could do to help him out & that is what he told me so that is one of my goals...to strengthen my relationship with my husband by clearing the table each night.

2) Give my kids 1 hug a day---now I already do that but I want it to be with more purpose so they know I LOVE them

3) 1 ME NIGHT a month---I am so much happier & patient when I get ME TIME either alone or with my friends

I felt so good after setting my goals so I decided we needed to have a Family Home Evening on goal setting, so we did!

After we talked about goals & I shared mine with Andrew he decided he wanted to set some for himself. Below are his goals that we printed up & taped up in the kitchen, his bathroom & room! (I had taped my goals up in those places so he wanted to be like ME!)

Andrew’s 2013 Goals:

1. Learn to do my own laundry- prepare for my mission & to be a parent

2. Read one verse from the Book of Mormon each day- prepare for my mission & feel the Spirit

3. Learn to ride my bike without training wheels-step to getting a skateboard

4. Earn my Super Star Words Green & White Star- build my confidence & become a better readerIMG453

I am constantly SO IMPRESSED with how SMART & RESPONSIBLE Andrew naturally is! I am in awe that I was chosen to be HIS MOTHER & that Heavenly Father trusts me enough with one of his CHOSEN & RIGHTEOUS SONS! (No pressure!)

Hopefully we can both work on our GOALS & become better people!
