Since we were up here for Spring Break we decided to celebrate Easter this weekend instead of in 2 weeks!
As soon as we woke up the SPOILING began…chocolate milk with breakfast! My boys LOVE when Mimi spoils them, which she does ALL the time!!!
Last time we were up here Mimi had given Jackson this cute outfit so we had to get a picture with her!!!
On the way to Aunt Sandy & Uncle Robert’s farm the kids (Andrew & Autumn played the iPad & Kindle) while Jackson took a nap & Lisa, Jon & I rocked out to fun music & chatted!
When I got to the farm Aunt Sandy commented that I was too dressed up but I feel better when I look better! And why can’t you look good at the farm too?
Jackson was pointing at everything but especially the chickens & tractor!
Aunt Sandy had made the most yummy dutch oven shepherd’s pie & Lisa helped her serve it!!! It was SO GOOD & a great way to start the fun day!!!
Uncle Robert pulled up in the tractor & I thought Jackson would LOVE riding with him on the tractor but he was pretty hesitant b/c he doesn’t really know Uncle Robert! BUT he warmed up really fast to Uncle Robert & eventually LOVED riding the tractor with him!!!
Andrew was the dog’s best friend!!!
Jackson wasn’t really interested in eating lunch. He just wandered around the farm & said hello to the doggie, had fun playing with the toy mower & LOVED chasing the chickens!
When no one was watching he climbed onto the tractor & luckily Autumn, my sweet niece, was there watching out for him! Then she took him for a ride in the motorized truck! He LOVED it!!
It was so cute to see Andrew & Shane (my cousin’s son) go off & play together! They just hung out the whole time & had so much fun just being boys!!!
Again Jackson climbed up on the tractor all by himself & thought he was the COOLEST KID EVER!!!
While the kids were off having adventures, us adults just sat around & chatted. This is what holidays are all about…family & LOVE!!!
Then Shane & Andrew wanted their Papas to come see the “fort” so off they went!
Jon, Lisa, Jackson & I decided to follow too, but then Jackson wanted to check out the pond so off we went!
Lisa got a picture of our whole family on the log & said, “The family that logs together stays together!” We were laughing so hard! I just LOVE my sister & how much FUN she is!!!
Then Jon took Jackson & Andrew kayaking. They both LOVED it!!!
When it was time to hide the Easter Eggs Uncle Robert offered to take the kids on a tractor ride while the adults hid them. I have never been on the tractor ride so I decided to go with the kids! Jackson had fun riding with Uncle Robert too!!!
It was so much fun to be able to capture the PURE JOY & HAPPINESS on their faces as Uncle Robert drove us around & would act like he was going to dump us in the pond or run into a tree & then swerve at the last minute so we would miss it! The kids were giggling non-stop!!!
We stopped by the “bridge” & Shane showed Andrew how to walk across it. Andrew was brave & Shane was so cute putting out his hand to help Andrew! Autumn at first was going to try but got too scared when she saw Shane lose his balance & almost fall into the muddy water!
Throughout the ride if Uncle Robert saw trash he would lower the bucket & the kids would all run & pick it up.
We were all having a GREAT TIME until the last time when Uncle Robert lowered the bucket for the kids to get trash & the tractor rolled forward a little. I wasn’t expecting that so my long legs got stuck underneath it for a second. Luckily I was able to pull them out quickly but I had really pretty bruises for a couple weeks after! OUCH!!!
I didn’t think anything of it & even though it hurt really bad just went about helping Jackson collect Easter eggs. Later when I told my Mom & Dad about what had happened & showed them my legs they both were very grateful I didn’t break my legs. WOW, I hadn’t thought of how horrible it could have been. I am grateful that we said a prayer in the car on the way to the farm asking Heavenly Father for safety that day…I know that prayer was answered for me!!!
Well, we got back from the tractor ride & Uncle Robert decided to give the little kids (Jackson & Jamie) a head start so he put the bucket way up high so the big kids & I couldn’t get out! The kids were NOT happy about this at all but eventually he lowered the bucket & off they ran to collect Easter Eggs!!!
Jackson & Andrew had A LOT of FUN collecting the Easter Eggs!
At first we had to point the eggs out to Jackson & tell him to pick them up, but toward the end he was running over to the eggs & putting them in his bucket & running to the next egg! SO CUTE!!!
This is the ONLY picture that I was able to get of Andrew collecting the Easter Eggs b/c he was running all over the place!
I love how Andrew always puts his arm up around Jackson like this! Sweet brothers!!!
The Traditional Cousin Easter Picture with Jamie, Andrew, Jackson, Shane & Autumn.
After the traditional cousin Easter picture was done, Papa helped Jackson empty his eggs & Mimi helped Andrew! Of course Papa had to tease Andrew a little (A LOT) & try to steal some of his candy. Papa went too far with the teasing & Mimi had to scold him b/c he had made Andrew cry! Andrew got smart & enlisted Mimi to PROTECT his Easter basket from Papa while he went off & played again!!!
Jackson didn’t really care about the candy…he just wanted to carry his basket around with the eggs in it!!!
Jackson LOVED sitting on this swing & just admiring his eggs!
Next it was time to go fishing! Papa helped Andrew catch a fish! Andrew was so proud that he wanted me to take a picture of him with his fish!
After the kids had fished for quite a while, it was time to collect the chicken eggs!
Jackson was actually really gentle & LOVED collecting the eggs! Aunt Sandy was so cute & tender with Jackson in showing him how to pick them up & protecting his eggs from the bigger kids who had already collected theirs.
I LOVE this picture…Jon is always such an AWESOME daddy & spends so much time with his boys just following them around & helping them learn about the world they live in!!!
This is a PERFECT picture to represent the whole day…Sunshine & Happiness!!!
We were exhausted so we headed home. We thought the kids would take a nap on the way home but they didn’t sleep one wink & were so full of energy & having so much fun with each other in the back seat being silly! Andrew even put his hat backward & was dancing silly!
When we got home Dad wanted to make some dutch oven blueberry cobbler but we didn’t have the stuff so Lisa & I ran to the store!
It was fun to spend sister time together even though I was WAY NERVOUS driving with my sister in the van b/c I am NOT very confident at driving & was afraid she would be critical of me.
I included this picture of me driving b/c I think I look confident & happy here driving despite the reality of me freaking out inside, so I guess I can fake it really well!!!
When we got home with the stuff the kids decided to go out and “help” Papa make the dutch oven cobbler!
The blueberry cobbler got burnt a little but was still REALLY GOOD!!!
WOW, we really are VERY SPOILED!!!
I LOVE these kinds of days & LOVE spending time with my family & extended family!!!
THANKS AUNT SANDY & UNCLE ROBERT for an AWESOME early Easter at the farm!!!!
